Registrations are open for the 17th edition of the International Conference on Harmful Algae (ICHA) that will be held in the city of Florianópolis, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil from October 9th to 14th 2016. The first phase of registration is until July 15th 2015. The values to be paid vary from R$ 250,00 (daily registration) to R$ 1.000,00 (professionals and researchers who are not members of the International Society for the Study of Harmful Algae – ISSHA, convenor institution of the event).

Call for abstracts is open until June 3rd 2016. The organizing committee invites the submission of abstracts on the following topics: Freshwater and marine HAB biogeography; HAB prediction; Cyanobacteria; Ciguatera and Benthic HABs; HA biology; HA Ecology; Algal toxins; Toxicology; Taxonomy, systematics and genomics; HAB Technologies; Wellness of coastal communities; Surveillance and management; and HABs in a Changing World. The central theme of the event is “Harmful Algae, from Cells to Fisheries: Species, Toxins, Ecology, Management and New Technologies“.
The 17th ICHA is being organized by the Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina (IFSC), an institution for technical and technological education with 22 campuses in the state of Santa Catarina, and by the Latin-American Association for Study on Harmful Algae (Alean). The event is also endorsed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and the Intergovernmental Oceanography Commission.
